OpenWrks vs alternatives

What is OpenWrks?

OpenWrks is a banking API aggregator: one integration model so apps can reach many institutions with user consent. We list about 21 institutions in this directory; your app’s real coverage can still differ by product and market. For a simple mental model, OpenWrks is like a power strip for financial data: many banks share one interface, and your product plugs in once.

OpenWrks FAQ

OpenWrks is an open banking API aggregator headquartered in GB. It provides account or identity verification through a single integration, so apps can reach many banks with the customer's consent instead of building one connection per bank.

Open Banking Tracker lists 21 institutions reachable through OpenWrks. Real coverage can differ by product, market, and individual bank, so use the supported-banks table on this page and confirm specific institutions in OpenWrks's own documentation.

Yes. FCA register shows Registered Account Information Service Provider status CANCELLED effective 2022-12-05 (FRN 709589, entity now "Business Finance Technology Group Limited t/a OpenWrks") — no longer an active AISP as of Sept 2026. Authorisations held: FCA (registration cancelled). Verify current licensing on the relevant regulator's public register before you rely on it.

OpenWrks focuses on account data (AIS) rather than payment initiation. For pay-by-bank you would pair it with a PIS-licensed provider; check OpenWrks's current product list to confirm.

Yes. OpenWrks offers verification products (such as account-ownership or income checks) built on its open banking connectivity. CORRECTED Sept 2026: previously listed here as an active AISP, but the FCA's own register shows the RAISP registration cancelled 2022-12-05 — the register only exposes that cancellation date, not the original registration date, so authorisedSince is left null. `ais` flipped to false pending re-verification of OpenWrks' current regulatory status; OpenAffordability/OpenStatements products may still operate via a different mechanism (e.g. a partner's licence) that wasn't identified in this pass. Availability varies by market — confirm in OpenWrks's documentation.

OpenWrks pricing is sales-gated (you contact sales for rates): Custom / contact sales.

Open Banking Tracker lists institutions in 3 countries reachable through OpenWrks. The most covered are United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark. Coverage varies by product, so confirm specific banks in OpenWrks's documentation.
